The official seller guide & policy hub of The Art Kids (TAKs)

1. Introduction

Welcome to the Sellers Center, the official guide and terms of participation for all creators partnering with The Art Kids (TAKs).

We are a creative marketplace that empowers artists, designers, and visionaries to turn their art into meaningful products – from art toys and posters to apparel and accessories. TAKs supports on-demand production and a seller-first platform, helping you reach real customers with no upfront risk.

This page outlines the collaboration models, earnings structure, creative policies, and support system available to all sellers.

2. Who Can Join?

We welcome a wide range of creators:

  • Professional artists: illustrators, 3D sculptors, digital designers, painters, and toy makers
  • Emerging creators: with great ideas but no technical background
  • Creative teams or student collectives
  • Anyone with a unique concept ready to be brought to life

Whether you have a completed product or just a sketch on paper, you’re welcome here.

3. Collaboration Models

3.1. You already have a product

If you have a completed item such as art toys, 3D models, T-shirt designs, or handmade illustrations:

  • Register as a seller and access your Vendor Dashboard
  • Upload your product: images, description, price, and variations
  • TAKs will review your submission for originality and feasibility

Once approved:

  • Your product appears on theartkids.co.uk
  • It may be featured on TAKs’ social media or seasonal campaigns
  • Orders are fulfilled either by TAKs (if POD or figure) or by you (if handmade)

3.2 You only have a 2D design (for figures)

If you have a 2D sketch or concept for an art toy or collectible figure:

  • Submit your idea via Submit Your Creative Idea
  • TAKs will review and connect you with 3D designers (if accepted)
  • We’ll help you explore product direction, file prep, and production estimates

No production starts until a real order is made. Seller covers production cost post-purchase.

3.3 You're selling other types of products

For products like:

  • Painting, posters, prints, T-shirts, postcards, accessories, zines, etc.

You can upload your art products directly via the Vendor Dashboard.

3D support is available for brands that need a product mock-up.

4. Selling Process

  1. Register as a Seller
  2. Set Up Your Store: Add banner, bio, profile image
  3. Upload Products: Include all required info; TAKs reviews
  4. Product Approval & Listing
  5. Customer Orders: TAKs or seller fulfills based on product type
  6. Payouts: Monthly with sales reports

5. Fees & Earnings

  1. Platform Fee: 15% of each sale – lower than Etsy’s typical 25%+ structure, while still ensuring TAKs can support creators with high-touch services, marketing, and operational support.
  2. Production Fee: Only applies to products that require production (e.g. POD, figures). Covered by the seller after a customer places an order. Not applicable to self-produced or handmade items.

6. Product Guidelines

Allowed:

  • Original painting, art toys, figures, prints, apparel, accessories, zines, etc.

Not allowed:

  • Plagiarized, offensive, or AI-generated content used to create a fictional or non-existent product. You may use AI tools to edit, enhance, or visualize real products, but the product must exist in physical form or be producible.

All products must be owned or co-created with written agreement.

7. Intellectual Property

  • Seller retains full copyright
  • TAKs may use images for promotional purposes
  • TAKs supports IP protection for original creators

9. Refunds & Shipping

    • TAKs handles refunds and logistics for TAKs-fulfilled orders (POD, 3D)
    • Handmade/self-fulfilled sellers manage their own shipping
    • Refunds for custom/handmade items only apply if damaged or incorrect. For full details, please refer to our separate policies Refund and Return Policy and Shipping Policy.

10. Promotions & Features

The Art Kids offers curated promotional opportunities to help outstanding products gain visibility and reach the right audience. Selected sellers may benefit from:

  • Homepage banners
  • Featured sections on collection or product pages
  • Blog articles and artist highlights
  • Social media posts (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook)
  • Paid advertisements (where relevant)
  • Influencer partnerships (if appropriate)
  • Inclusion in seasonal or themed campaigns

Promotions are handpicked by The Art Kids team based on originality, quality, story, and visual presentation. During the early launch phase, promotion is free. In the future, optional co-funded promotional packages may be introduced for sellers seeking additional exposure.

11. Responsibilities of Sellers

By participating as a seller on The Art Kids, you agree to uphold the following responsibilities:

  • Only upload and sell products that you legally own or have rights to distribute.
  • Ensure all product descriptions, prices, and visuals are honest, clear, and accurate.
  • Respond to support inquiries and resolve order-related issues in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Treat customers with professionalism and respect, ensuring fair service and ethical conduct.
  • For handmade or self-fulfilled products: deliver on time, maintain consistent quality, and avoid misrepresentation.
  • Do not engage in fraudulent activities, including using fake reviews, false claims, or shipping empty/defective items.
  • Maintain good standing within the TAKs community and respect all platform rules and artistic integrity.

12. Closing or Pausing Store

Notify TAKs at least 48 hours before closing or pausing your store. This allows our team to assist with any outstanding orders, remove or adjust promotional placements, and inform customers if needed. Once notified, TAKs will provide a step-by-step guide to help you complete the process smoothly and responsibly.

13. Policy Updates

TAKs may update this policy. Sellers will be notified of significant changes. Continued use implies agreement.
